Digital Maturity Assessment: Know Where You Stand Before You Invest

A digital maturity assessment gives you an honest picture of your processes, systems, data and skills, compared against a target level, with a ranked list of opportunities so you invest in the right place from the start.

The problem

"Every department says it's digital, yet reports are still compiled by hand." That's what many managers discover when they try to answer a simple question: how digitally ready are we?

The picture is fragmented. IT sees systems and infrastructure, finance sees reports and costs, operations sees daily delays, and nobody holds the whole view. When decision time comes, investment follows impressions or whichever department is loudest.

The usual result: money goes into a new system while the real problem is data quality, or training is rolled out while the real blocker is a convoluted procedure nobody has touched in years. What you need is a neutral digital maturity assessment that measures where you are against clear criteria and shows where the gaps are largest and where investment pays back most.

Our solution

A maturity assessment is the natural starting point of digital transformation, and a direct application of the Discover stage of our method.

Start free in minutes

For a quick first view, try our free digital maturity assessment tool. Answer a short set of questions and get an indicative maturity score for each dimension. It is a good way to start the conversation with leadership, but it doesn't replace an in-depth review.

The in-depth assessment: six dimensions

When our team runs the assessment, we measure the organisation across six dimensions:

  • Strategy and leadership: are there clear digital goals and an executive sponsor?
  • Processes: how documented and standardised they are, and how much manual work and rework they involve.
  • Systems and integration: do systems exchange data automatically, or through spreadsheets and re-keying?
  • Data and reporting: data quality and ownership, and how fast reports can be produced.
  • People and skills: team readiness and appetite for change.
  • Security and compliance: including Oman's Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022).

How we gather evidence

We don't rely on surveys alone. We interview leadership and staff, run short workshops, review real systems and reports, and trace one or two processes end to end. That way the assessment reflects reality, not impressions.

From assessment to decision

Each dimension gets a score on a five-level scale, a target level for the next 18–24 months and a list of opportunities ranked by impact and effort. These findings feed directly into your transformation strategy and roadmap, and show early what your team will need from change management.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the free tool and the in-depth assessment?
The free online tool gives you an indicative score in minutes, based on your own answers. The in-depth assessment is run by our team through interviews, workshops and reviews of real systems and processes, and produces a detailed report with ranked opportunities you can build a strategy and roadmap on.
How long does a digital maturity assessment take?
An in-depth assessment usually takes three to five weeks, depending on the size of the organisation and the number of departments in scope. Interviews and workshops are kept short and focused so day-to-day operations aren't disrupted.
Can you assess just one department?
Yes. The assessment can start with a single department such as finance, procurement or customer service, especially if that's where the pain is greatest. We still review its hand-offs with other departments, because much of the delay happens between teams rather than within them.
How do you keep our data confidential during the assessment?
We sign a confidentiality agreement before starting and access only what we need to understand processes and systems. We don't copy personal data outside your environment, we follow Oman's Personal Data Protection Law, and we return or delete documents at the end as agreed.
